Carrots

Change usually appeals to me. It usually is exciting. Then suddenly a big change is staring me in the face and I get a bit cowardly. Suddenly my nostalgia kicks in. Suddenly I just want familiar and comfortable. I want easy.

Someone else is going to harvest my carrots. The carrots from the garden we finally got built for the third summer in our home. The vegetables that a friend came and planted for me as a creative baby gift.

In a month we'll be gone. All of a sudden our house is for sale and we're looking for a new one in a different city. This wasn't in our plan. In fact, we said after Ira we were just going to coast for a few years. No more kids, no moves, no big changes. We were ready to just relax and settle in to a well established life and community here in a neighborhood we had grown to love.

Then a job opportunity came that was too good to say no to and the reality was, we both felt more peaceful about going than staying, even though staying was easier.

Devin starts his new job in Indy next month. And life is a bit crazy until then, and I'm guessing after as well. Maybe someday we'll settle down and relax. Until then...

I cannot believe this!! Not that I'm so good at keeping up with you, but wow! That is a big change. Nice that you will still be near family, though! but still kind of sad. :(

Wow! What? That seems sudden. I feel like you just moved and painted your house:). Thankfully family isn't to far away in indy!! Wow!!

Hoping & praying everything goes well and the boys (& you & Devin!) adjust as well as possible!

what!!! Indy like Indianapolis right... not India? I know Devin does computer stuff so I just want to clarify. ;) That is so exciting! I'm sure it will be crazy moving and all the change; wishing you all the best with that! Like Jenny said, you're welcome anytime. We'll do a cookout when you guys get settled in. Let me know if you have any random Indy questions.

Oh man, you got me at "Someone else is going to harvest my carrots." But then again I am a bit sappy today going through lots of old kids' clothes to give away. I keep telling myself the reason I feel sadness is that God has been so gracious to give growing kids and homes filled with people and love.

Oh man, I don't know what to say (*sob!*).

Love how you are stepping out in faith even though it's not the anticipated or easy thing to do.

Praying for you as you transition through this...and I think I need to pray for my sister too :(

Em.. Praying for you. His ways are higher than ours.. I can't imagine a move right now (imagining that with my 2 little boys).. but I also can imagine the grace God is giving you guys as you obey His voice. Love you and sending prayers your way.
