Week 10 Pregnancy Update

We're excited to be expecting our second child at the beginning of March!
And what do you know, this one was actually planned. :)

With Henrik being two in January, we decided March would be the earliest we'd want to have a newborn. So the joint decision was that in June we would stop preventing anything and just see what happened. Since I've done this before and I was tracking things closely, this time I actually knew when I was having slight cramping that I suspected was from implantation. I was fairly convinced I was pregnant about two weeks before getting a positive test. But then I took a few tests that should have been in the range of being able to pick up hcg and they kept coming back negative (my husband could attest to the fact that I go a little test-crazy when I think I might be pregnant). So I started to think I was crazy for feeling pregnant and must not be, which I was fine with since we weren't in a hurry.

But I was pregnant, I just didn't get a positive test until the day I missed my period, which kind of concerned me that maybe my hormone levels weren't where they needed to be. After miscarrying in January (at 5 weeks along) I was a little on edge. After getting the positive test around four weeks, I had two weeks of not really feeling pregnant. And then week six hit. And I was no longer worried because I felt very much pregnant (aka awful).

Just like with Henrik's pregnancy, weeks six and seven were horrid. All day nausea and no energy. Turns out that pregnancy is a bit harder with a super energetic one-year-old. (I always wish my mom lived close, but much more so during these weeks!) And then week seven finished and I started to have a few good days mixed in with the bad. And now, at 10 weeks and a few days, I'm already forgetting those horrible days of being sick. I still don't have my normal energy and get waves of nausea or food just not settling well, but overall I can't complain.

During week seven I ended up going in for an ultrasound because I was having some pretty sharp abdominal pain. Thankfully, all was well and we saw our little peanut with a strong heartbeat.

The ultrasound put our due date around March 4th or 5th.

I had a 10 week appointment with my midwife last Thursday and it appears everything is on track. I wouldn't say I'm completely settled on my prenatal care and where I'll deliver this baby, but that's a post for another time. :)

Here goes round two!

isn't that a crazy thing that one day (5week) you feel fine, and the next day (6 weeks), you feel awful! We are fearfully and wonderfully made, huh!

Congrats again!

Congrats! Glad you're feeling better! My hubby would say I get a little test-crazy when I wonder if I'm pregnant too :)

yay for getting past the "my eyes are closing without my consent phase" ! ;) do you use the $1 tests from wal-mart or even cheaper, the little dip paper ones? i get totally manic about taking tests if I think I'm pregnant and use the ovulation ones to family plan so I buy the cheapest of the cheap and they are more sensitive to boot. ;) Loved your announcement on instagram. ;D congratulations :)
