Homemade Eye Makeup Remover

Several months ago I pinned a recipe for homemade eye makeup remover ("they" say eye makeup remover is one of the most toxic self-care products). At the time, I was still using up stuff I had purchased and I don't go through it very quickly, so I'm just now getting around to trying it out.

The original formula I used from this blog needs altered slightly. It was too soapy, in my opinion. But overall, it works great and is really easy and cheap to throw together.

Ingredients:

Directions: Heat one cup of filtered water in the microwave for one minute. Stir in one tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of liquid castile soap. Lastly, stir in three drops of lemon essential oil. Voila.

Homemade products tend to settle, so you might need to shake once or twice before using.

Also, one cup is a lot of eye makeup remover. I'd recommend halving the recipe unless you go through it really quickly. I think it would stay good for awhile, but I think it's annoying to have to store the extra.

The above photo shows what my recipe made. The container on the right is my old eye makeup remover bottle. I'll never go through all of this, so a serious offer to anyone who lives nearby and wants some free eye makeup remover. Bring a little bottle over and I'll fill it up. Seriously!

Yeah, I did get too much on my cotton ball the first time and had a bit of stinging...but didn't have that problem later when I used less. :)
