It's the Holiday Season

I'm not sure if it's my Christmas-obsessed husband, or being a new mom, but I have a new found energy and excitement for the holidays. I'm so excited for how cozy our house is with the tree and lights. I'm looking forward to family time and having Henrik around. And of course, the food.

But.

I also have a growing disgust for the consumerism that surrounds the holiday season. Just hearing people prepping for "Black Friday" makes me gag a little.

So I've been looking for balance as Christmas approaches and we set the stage for how our family will do 'the holidays'.

Enter the beloved Jen Hatmaker:

I wasn't on the Jen Hatmaker train in 2011, so this is new to me and maybe isn't to the rest of you. But, in case you're interested...

Thanks Em, for the link! Made me of course spend more time on her blog than I probably should, but all good stuff.

I enjoy Jen Hatmaker's thoughts. Also, a couple years ago I went through the book "Preparing my heart for advent" by Stewart, & I love the ideas paired with scripture that she presented. Something I want to re-read when my kids get older too. Mandy
