Weekend Photos and Being Done with Starbucks

Our summer signature: grilled pizza. This time with tomatoes, basil, pesto, and fresh mozzarella.

I've despised the color of our shutters from day one, but it's taken 10 months to actually do something about it...

Saturday's 75 and sunny was the perfect day. Love being able to walk to our local meat market for something to grill for dinner. Henrik was oddly happy to be at the meat market with his penguin.

Isn't he looking so grown up?! How in the world does this happen so quickly?

Amazing stuffed chicken breast with kale and tomatoes with basil and fresh spicy oregano.

Lots of relaxing and napping for all of us. :)

And now...my soapbox about how I hate Starbucks coffee. Below are two almost-full coffees that Dev and I got the other day (one Americano and one Blonde Roast). They are almost full because they were both too gross to drink. They totally over-roast their beans. I've decided my Starbucks days are over. On to better coffee...

We've started using beans from a local place where we pick up beans literally the day after they are roasted. So good. You can do monthly subscribtions and either pick it up if you're local or have it mailed. If you are a coffee snob, this stuff is worth checking out. (photo hyperlinked)

The pizza looks delicious! And we totally agree about Starbucks coffee...we can hardly choke it down. Aaron roasts his own coffee now (buys green coffee beans from a bulk place), and it is delicious! I will still drink the occasional coffee-drink from Starbucks, though...just not black coffee! :)

And Henrik is absolutely adorable. Love the stage he is at! So smiley :)

This is a good recap of a good weekend... I guess it's worth mentioning that getting those shutters off the house involved me blistering my feet on the blazing hot roof and uncovering half a dozen wasp's nests... And using kitchen scissors to cut through the plastic anchors that were clearly never meant to be removed... Favorite summer job!

the only "coffee" I drink at Buckstars is an Americano that is freshly brewed with espresso and hot water added. Otherwise there is no telling how long it's been burning in the drip machine. yuck.

the penguin rocks. :)
