Mother's Day weekend...
(not sure why the photos are so grainy...I uploaded them in high resolution...so who knows)

Henrik Sebastian played nicely while Dev and I cooked up a pretty amazing dinner on Saturday night...

Brussels, fingerling potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and filets. We don't often do a "meat and potatoes" meal, but this one was incredible. Thanks mom and dad for the steaks!

Sunday morning, Mother's Day, Huck tried to wake up around 6 AM. So I grabbed him, his pacifier, and pulled him into bed with us. It bought us close to an hour and a half...though I think Henrik slept more than I did during that time.

I came downstairs to find my boys with a beautiful orchid, sweet card, and my favorite snicker doodle cupcakes from a nearby bakery. Dev definitely scored points on my first Mother's Day gifts! And then he made up chocolate chip waffles with strawberries...

My own dear mother was on a rather long flight home from Japan on Mother's Day, so we didn't get to see her at all. But of course she was remembered often. I Instagramed the below photo with the caption that I felt privileged to be raised by this woman. I meant it.

Mother's Day started off very well...but the day got a little shaky. Too many places to be, too much stimulation for dear Henrik, and not enough sleep. By the end of the day, a photo of my first Mother's Day was a bit of an afterthought...leaving us with this gem:

However, I decided I really like Mother's Day. It's basically like a second birthday with gifts and nice cards and kind words and an excuse to eat cupcakes for breakfast. I think Devin got the sense that these parent holidays are good fun because by the end of my day he was already suggesting things he might receive for Father's Day. ;)

Definitely a gem of the day, that last picture, bless dear Henrik. Maybe someday Henrik will post it on Mother's day and your children will all comment on how beautiful you look like we all did about our dear mother:).

Happy first Mother's Day! Sounds like fun to have a day dedicated to you twice in one year! Bless the man (or woman) who came up with that idea!
