Passing Time

It feels as if right now we're just finding thing to pass the time until Pops arrives. Today is my due date, January 13. For some reason I had kind of expected to have the baby by now. I'm starting to have some real contractions - but it's hard to say whether or not they're soon leading to the real thing.

As much as I'm getting anxious, we have been having a good time these last few days...

I got a pedicure because, let's face it, it's a big enough chore putting on socks and shoes, as if I would attempt to do my toenails. Nothing like sitting in a massage chair next to a good friend while someone pampers your feet.

We went to a pet store to get a fish for the wall-mounted bowl I gave Dev for Christmas. He spotted some rats - he loves pet rats - and it took me awhile to get him away.

Putting together some last-minute storage in Pop's room.

A trip to satisfy a frozen yogurt craving.

The newest member of our family, and mainly used as fun wall decor..."fish" (yep, that's his name). Don't worry, we won't name Pops, "baby".
There have been fun dinners with friends and family, and game nights, cooking/baking, and good naps and sleeping in. There has been a lot of journaling and thinking and praying. There have also been a lot of commands to the Popsqueak that it's time to come out and exclamations to my husband that this baby will never come.

This weekend has been the start of all things labor inducing...the awesome weather yesterday allowed for a nice long walk. I'm doing squats frequently, taking the stairs a lot, and other things that they say can encourage labor. I know, I'm not being very patient and I'm just now at my due date. If I'm a week overdue or something you're probably going to want to steer clear of me. :)

So - that's the news from here. Maybe, if I'm lucky, the next time I blog I'll be introducing the Pops!

So...from one mom to another...if you haven't had the baby by the next OB apt...maybe say you think you dilated ...or anything that will ensure an exam. If you are comfortable with stripping membranes (some mamas aren't because of possible spread of germs and just because the term sounds terrible ;) that's a sure fire way to move things along (i think it works because I had it done with Christian and Jude and had them a week and two weeks early and with Willem couldn't because of strep B and went the full 40 weeks with him...though they were all about the same size when born regardless, so maybe they just needed different cooking times ;) didn't go into labor with him even dilated to 3-4 cm until the OB finally did an exam with a speculum and got things moving. Thank goodness. At any rate...you'll have the baby very soon! Thinking of you guys and can't wait for pictures of the baby. :)

I hope I haven't written this yet...can't remember. When I was 5 days overdue with Emitt and feeling like you (wondering WHEN this baby will come), Klint experimented with reflexology on my hand (between your thumb and pointer...apparently a reflex that could induce labor) when we were in bed one night. 1 hour later my water broke - off to the hospital. Crazy, huh?

My day ended in a C-section so use that method with caution.
