Phoenix/Scottsdale

I was reading my book (the one I'm going to be quoting from) on the flight into Sky Harbor International airport and where I was starting was a very appropriate chapter on the author's visit with college friends. So to quote Shauna..

"I realized why this kind of time together matters so much: because there are things you can't know, and questions you can't ask, and memories you can't recover via email and voicemail. It was about being there, about being there to really see what's exactly the same and what's totally different about each one of us."

So here's to good time with college friends in what happens to be a favorite city of mine...

Grocery shopping at SafeWay

Asking for directions to our hiking destination while 6 rowdy girls taunted and whistled from nearby...

Dani vs Cholla. Winner...Cholla.

Pinnacle Peak

the crew!

More directions/hiking clarification. Leah looks worried.

A challenging but satisfying hike!

Feeling proud of our accomplishment.

So turns out bowling in Arizona is very similar to bowling in Indiana...just worse music.

View from the balcony of the condo my aunt and uncle graciously allowed us to use...definitely something I could get used to waking up to every morning! (You too Chris :)

Well as usual, coming back from a delightful and too short trip leaves me feeling a little down about the Midwest and life here...BUT I'm sure that feeling will fade and I'll just be left with good memories. (look at me making an attempt at optimism!)

"Share your life with the people you love, even if it means saving up for a ticket and going without a few things for a while to make it work. There are enough long lonely days of the same old thing, and if you let enough years pass, and if you let the routine steamroll your life, you'll wake up one day, isolated and weary, and wonder what happened to all those old friends."
