35 and counting

at the start of the weekend, we celebrated this...

molly wins the cake decorating award.

lots of little faces on that cake...here they are in real life...

look how sweet taye is with his hands folded ready to pray.

lots of family and extended family time over the weekend with the anniversary dinner and a cousin's graduation. especially fun to catch up with this sister that i rarely see...

this represents something done a lot in our house. there's a long standing tradition of late night talks sitting on the kitchen counters. the comfortable living room couches are just a few feet away but for some reason we have our standard kitchen spots that are conducive to good hashing. :) mom took this picture and then proceeded to try and take one of me in a rather unfortunate-looking late night state...i resisted.

so even though the actual 35th wedding anniversary date isn't quite here...congrats to my mom and dad. i guess i never thought this day wouldn't come. growing up there was never a doubt in my mind that my parents were happily married and would remain that way. they've set the bar pretty high for the rest of us. :)

What a cute cake! Congrats, Steve and Linda--you've raised some quality kids. ;)

Also, our family can never seem to migrate from the kitchen counters either.... what's with that?!

Love the picture of Sara! Yes, the kitchen counters were a great spot to talk! My sisters and I would talk in the kitchen or ended up talking in our big bathroom up stairstairs. Gotta love those talks:)
