The Celebratory Bottle

A week before Devin left, we went on an anniversary date to a winery. We decided to do a bit of a splurge (we're usually cheap wine people) on our favorite wine that we tasted that day and save it for when Devin moved back home. It would be our celebratory bottle. It would signify the end of a weird season of life. It would remind us how far we'd come and that what once looked so daunting, was now behind us.

Devin was home for a short while this past weekend, the last time we'll see him before I head to his "graduation" and bring him home for good. I was feeling pretty down about him leaving, so before  he left, he suggested I set out "our bottle" somewhere visible to remind me that we're almost there.

So now, dear Tannat is on top of the piano in the living room, standing there confidently to remind me that in a short while (even if it doesn't feel short at the moment), I'll have my husband back and it will be time to celebrate.

And, just because it's so darling...
