Today I received an Evite from my love for a date tomorrow night. I love getting surprise emails like that! And I'm really excited about this date! I'll be sure to photograph the event so I finally have something to blog about...
Not that life hasn't been fun and good lately. We've been enjoying the benefits of our complex with some tennis (though one of us has an attitude problem when it comes to losing...most of you won't have to guess who that is...the other one of us is threatening not to play anymore unless things settle down) and some evening pool time after work. We have a new favorite show...Masterchef (I'm a little late on the cooking show bandwagon, but here I am). Tonight we have a very exciting date to the grocery store and maybe Target (our bathroom just isn't staying as clean now that I've run out of Method bathroom wipes).
My herbs have been growing nicely (other than the cilantro which seems to be yellowing - why is cilantro so hard to grow but so cheap to buy and basil the opposite?) and the flower bulbs I planted months ago are finally popping through...they may even flower by August with some sort of miracle. We saw a commercial for BLTs last night and decided that's what dinner should be tonight. But we're not swayed by advertising, don't worry.
I got a bit of a promotion at work. My job description is changing. I'm feeling good about it. It's making me rather busy at the moment...but I tend to like most change and definitely like this one. Devin continues to be the smartest, hottest, and wittiest SEM analyst at his company (who's surprised?). Summer hockey is in full swing for him, but the NHL season has ended much to his sorrow and my delight.
I have a new hobby of house hunting through a fun iPad app...even though we probably won't move for almost a year. I'm a little bitter about the options in our area...the unique areas with character leave you a couple blocks from 'the hood' (I'm really wimpy about living close to bad areas) and the areas with good resale value and schools are the boring subdivisions that I loathe. I know, I know...this American life we lead comes with so many hardships.
And since every good Christmas letter has a picture...two of my favorites from our wedding shoot...

What a fun blurb of updates! You are such a creative writer....it makes your blog one of the first I go to check. :)
Love, love, love this. Great Christmas letter - like the idea :)
I have to agree- great idea! And don't forget...it's not whether you win or lose, but if you played fair and had fun! (or something like that :)
Ah! loved it! It was fun to see you the other day, wished I had more time to ask you how life was going! Congratulations on the promotion!
Love, D
oh this was awesome! i love the updates and the thoughts! excited to hear about this fun date :)
miss you friend and excited to catch up on friday!
Couldn't agree more about the basil/cilantro thing. I have never been able to grow cilantro for more than a couple weeks before it turns yellow and is done. If anyone could help me out on that, I would love the advice! Maybe it can't be grown in a pot??
I LOVE the two wedding pics...probably my faves also.
such great pictures. and i TOTALLY agree about the real estate. :( boohoo.
Oh Christmas letters, we all love them! Thanks for the update Em. Hooray for cooking shows!
Your cousin-to-be, Chalise, was able to grow cilantro amazingly well when we were at Gateway together. I'll have to ask her what she did. Seriously, we had tons of it. Mine hasn't grown at all this summer, either. Completely yellowed. Thanks for the fun update. Speaking of Christmas letters; I found one that Bets and I made in college. I'll have to show it to you sometime. It is so odd, but funny.
Fun post :) I love your wedding pictures!
