Guilty

I'm reading this really great book that Betsy recommended called A Severe Mercy. It's a love story on all accounts...love between to two people, and the ultimate kind of love as they tell the account of their coming to Christ. The following is an excerpt from the author, Sheldon Vanauken's, journal when he is in the very early stages of exploring Christianity:

"The best argument for Christianity is Christians: their joy, their certainty, their completeness. But the strongest argument against Christianity is also Christians - when they are sombre and joyless, when they are self-righteous and smug in complacent consecration, when they are narrow and repressive, then Christianity dies a thousand deaths."

I've been really stressed and moody this week and, I'm sure, displaying very little joy to those I'm coming in contact with. This was quite good for me to read, and reread.
