Apples

We picked them (Dev even climbed trees for them).
We candied them.
We dipped them in caramel and peanuts.
And then we ate them.

The red ones looked the coolest.
The caramel ones tasted the best.

The red ones were the easiest to dip but impossible to bite into.
And it turns out that candy, when spilled at the 'hard crack' stage, is quite interesting to clean up. Good thing my mom is a pro at these sorts of things.

I think this whole apple experience was much more enjoyable than usual for a few reasons...picking the apples was fun and made the event memorable and being in my mom's kitchen and having her with us was great. It was just nice to be home and nice to bring Devin to the place I grew up.

I realized something after the weekend. I realized that not once was I nervous or stressed. This made me really thankful. Thankful because I have a wonderful family and I'm proud to have Devin get to know them. And on the other side, Devin is wonderful, and I'm proud to bring him around my family. Basically this weekend was a very good reminder of how blessed I am, which sounds cliche´, but I can't think of a different word to use and well, it's the truth.

With all those apples being candied and carmelized, I get the feeling that fall is in the air. And I get the feeling you are falling for someone, too. Happy...

Can I say you look so much like your mom in that photo?

love to see the spark in your eye. I know fall is your favorite season and all (that boot thing you know) . . . : )

Wow, you DO look like Mom in that pic for some reason...I don't usually think that.

Truman enjoyed the candy coating at least. :)

Okay, don't know if you want to hear this again, but I too did a double-Mom!-take with that picture. Not sure if it's the hair pulled away from your face, the angle, or what.

Wow...broken record, but I was thinking you looked like your mom too! I think that's a compliment to both you and your mom! :)
Such a fun sounding weekend with Devin!...will we be seeing him this weekend? I really like the bottom right picture of you too...kind of everything about it. :)
