Out with the old...

in with the owl.

I love new journals. By the time I'm close to finishing one I'm usually writing extra-large or extra-lengthy schpeels so I can move on to the next.

I've been particularly excited to start this lovely, leather-smelling, tethered-page owl journal. I keep holding it to my face and inhaling rather vigorously through my nose. It might just look like I'm kissing the owl. I like him too, but this thing seriously smells so good.

Starting a new journal is like the start of a new year. It feels fresh. Like anything can happen. Predicting the contents that will fill a new journal is like predicting Indiana weather (surely I can think of a better analogy than weather, right?...nope). I'm thinking this journal will particularly portray my growing wisdom, seeing as owls are said to be wise. Although really, every journal tends to portray growth and wisdom considering when I finish one and read back to the first few pages I'm always thinking how huge of an idiot I was and say "whew, good thing I'm not like that anymore!" Needless to say, reading back through journals from the past few years is pain-stinking-ful.

Don't worry wise old owl, I promise to fill you up with scandalous and intriguing life tales.

You sound like you are in rare form as you write this post- very inspired! A blank page holds so many possibilities...
