"work-in-progress"

is something i find myself saying a lot lately to describe my place when people visit. i'm referring to the process of decorating and getting things where i want them. i'm working on an "art wall", which is basically one large, white wall in my living room that i'm covering with random things from photography, to prints, to my own artwork, to painted or written quotes or phrases...you get the idea. so that is mainly my work-in-progress, but it's been fun. here a few snapshots of my place...

remember the bunch of bamboo that i didn't know what to do with? well here it is. arranged randomly, glued together and hung on the wall. i hated the idea of boringly sticking them in a corner, in a vase or something. it sounded much more fun to drop them on the floor like pixie sticks and see what i could come up with. they are hanging above my couch in the living room. you probably can't tell this from the picture, but the wall is painted a very light peach.

last year after finals were over, christen and i had taken a trip up to northern michigan. one night we had a fun photo shoot out on a pier. christen has a good camera and had taken some really awesome photos. i blew 4 of them up to 8x10. they're above my desk in my room. don't they look professional? not to mention they bring back really awesome memories, of the funnest mini-vacation i've ever been on with one other person.
they are sepia tone up against a grayish-purple wall.

so i have a really cool bed. it's very vintage and sits really high off the ground, not to mention is way heavy (which the the only thing my dad noticed about it when i was moving :). when my grandma g was downsizing from her house, she was getting rid of a lot. not sure if i just claimed it first, or if no one else wanted it. but i've always loved this bed since i was a kid. it made me feel like a princess. and yes, with a new mattress, and all my down pillows, comforter, and the down pad thing that goes between my mattress and fitted sheet...it IS as comfortable as it looks. i love the look and the gold wrought iron looks really cool up against the dark wall...well, i think so at least. :)
more than one person has asked me how i get into my bed every night...mom suggest a foot stool...

so there's a little insight into the place i dwell.
come visit (if i know you).
but please call first...i'm not a lover of surprises.
