wisdom from oswald

i'm sure many of you have heard of My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. my sister molly gave it to me...it is like a daily devotional/reading type thing. if you don't know what it is, picture a more intense, complicated Daily Bread.

if you don't know what Daily Bread is, then you probably didn't grow up having it be a standard part of the napkin holder on the kitchen table, which means you probably didn't grow up in a stereotypical ac home.

anyways, last week in one of my days, mr. chambers (or oswald as i like to refer to him) suggested to take a look at the very same week of last year to view your spiritual growth, where you were at, etc.

so i did. it was actually a little ironic. the set of verses from first peter that were on my heart a year ago, were the very same verses i just recently did my girls bible study topic on. i actually learned a lot from reading through my journal from a year ago. i learned that some things will probably just be ongoing battles in my life. i learned that things i was once so dead set on eventually fade away and i'm okay with that.

i learned that sometimes reading through old journal entries can be embarrassing. they can also be uplifting to see answered prayer. and they can also be humbling as they shed light on certain areas of my life.

so basically, thanks oswald, you are (i mean were) very wise. if you journal or have some method of tracking where you were spiritually a year ago, i highly recommend it.

So I was recently reading through a few of my journals from the college years...and embarrassing would be high on the list of descriptions for what I read. I love it that God doesn't leave us where we are after salvation but continues to grow and change us. love you and can't wait to see you this weekend!

Wise words from Oswald.

By the way..... I may be mistaken, but I am pretty sure we don't have a daily bread in easy access. Streams in the desert, on the other hand...... we probably have like 20 of those in easy access. :)
