kevin and laura are on my mind...on my heart. i believe they are in dubai right now. awaiting their flight to addis ababa. the flight that will finally take them to their son. taye kevin gutwein.
it was a really special weekend. of course, to celebrate salvation because of Jesus' death and resurrection. also, to send off kevin and laura. it has been such a long journey, with quite a few surprises and let downs. honestly, i can't even begin to understand what they've been through, and what they are about to go through.
friday night, every single member of our growing family was at mom and dad's house. it was so great to be with everyone. we had a send off prayer. everyone prayed from dad down to brecken. i sat there frozen with amazement at the journey of bringing in our newest family member as well as amazement at the family i was handed. talk about lucky...i suppose "blessed" would be a more appropriate term.
now i'm sitting in kev and laura's house, kaitlin is (hopefully) sound asleep, and i can't help but look around this room and picture a sweet little ethiopian boy running around.
did i mention that 2009 will be yet another year where 3 new children are added to our family?
a week from now kevin and laura will be heading home with taye.
a month from now sara and nate will have their 3rd son.
and 6 months from now betsy and ryan will be holding their new child in doha, qatar.
oh yes, my sister is moving to qatar. and i'm going to guess 75% of you have no clue where that even is...think middle east my friends. think middle east.
ah change...good thing i handle it so very well.

It's always good to "read" your mind. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Love ya!
Man! That is a lot of change. I am praying for you all!
And I agree, Em! We MUST go to Loops sometime this week. Maybe Wed. morning? :)
Love ya!
So, Emily, I hope you don't mind, but I read your blog every once in a while! I couldn't pass this post without a comment! First, you are right - you have an amazing and are truly blessed! Second, Kevin and Laura have been on my mind as well. I am so happy for them that they are finally bringing home their little guy! Ade gave me an update on them a couple of weeks ago. Third, I so did not know that Betsy and Ryan were expecting! That's so awesome! Tell them I said congratulations! Are you babysitting for Kevin and Laura while they are gone? Hope you have a great week!
Auntie Em - all i can say is you are an awesome aunt and we can't wait to have you visit!! :)
oh by the way, I looooove "All the Heavens" song but I have to say i had never seen the lyrics written out and I might have been singing along with some words that are not exactly part of the song. whoops.
Hey Erica, it's fun to hear from you! I actually stumbled across your blog a couple weeks ago. :)
I'm actually not staying with Kevin's kids, just one night I stayed with Kaitlin. Unfortunately that just wouldn't work with school. :)
