Jodi aka 'soccer mom' jumps in the driver's seat of the minivan (borrowed from the generous mr. and mrs. beer) and we're off. Leah navigates-well tries, Ashley does homework, Kaitlyn and Christen converse quietly in the back, and I...well I stare out the window and pray for the gut-wrenching pains in my stomach to cease. I have ongoing digestive issues, but that's neither here nor there. An Acura, trailing our every move, carries 5 other girls (I can't give you the play-by-play from their car-i'm assuming they talked about boys). 3 or so hours later we reach our rainy destination just out of Chicago with a pool, large hot tub, and fabulous continental breakfast. Of course, "a good time was had by all."
We were sitting in/around the hot tub (which we had to ourselves) and singing praises to Jesus. The singing was beautiful! Maybe it was the acoustics of the room, but I'd like to think it had to do with the amazing young women lifting their voices to heaven. Prayer requests were shared and friendships deepened. I was sitting there and at one moment looked around. It hit me that this is what the college years are all about. I highly doubt that 10 or even 5 years from now I'll have that same opportunity. I'm trying lately to enjoy life as much as possible because it seems to get more and more serious each year. Even a year from now that very group of girls will have changed. SO glad to have the memories and the friendships!
My good friend Heidi is leaving soon to spend 2-3 months in Arizona to receive help on a constant battle in her life. If you think of it, pray for her healing...

Emily- I found your blog thru Kait :). I like the way you write. A trendy way to brag about life- yes, maybe so :). I have had some pretty good insights to life from these things- so as you said it goes both ways.
By the way- do not give up the trips with girls to places like Chicago. I just went two October's ago with a big group of girls (& Uh, I think I am close to ten years older then you, so... :)). Pics of it are on my blog in the archives :).
I will be checking in & may even add you to my list if that is okay. Have to make it look like I have lots of friends to show off- as you were saying!!!! :). Later- JennyG (J)
