Getting ready to head over into 9 to 'kidnap' Christen for the birthday extravaganza!

Leading a rather blind girl out to the car...

Busting moves!

As I rollerskated among bright flashing lights and gaudy music blaring out of the speakers I was taken back to late elementary school. The days when your birthday party was only cool if it was spent at "Roller Junction" in Monticello. Man, those were the days. Days I never thought I'd see again, until last night. Yesterday was Christen's 19th birthday. We started off the night by 'kidnapping' her, which consisted of blindfolding her and taking her to Great Skates fun center. We were buying our skate rentals and she still had NO clue where we were. I'm not sure who exactly came up with the roller skating idea, unfortunately I can't take credit for it. It was amazing! Who would have thought a couple hours on a skating rink could bring so much joy to a rainy and uneventful Tuesday evening.
This also made me think about how this long enjoyed past time is no longer an event of much attraction. I could be wrong, but if I had to guess...you could probably go there on a weekend night and find less than 50 people. 10 years ago, it would have been packed. Now I realize time goes on, things change...but we're bringing back so many aspects of the 80's - I say it's time for a roller skating rink revival! So, if you wonder where I'm at Friday night...I'll be skating through blacklights, in tights, with a side ponytail, nodding my head vivaciously and singing at the top of my lungs, What is love, baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more...

If you're there...I'm there. I wouldn't want to miss any of your mad skating moves!
Love ya!
Oh My Goodness. It does kind of sound like fun. -J
Ahhhhh! You guys are the VERY best! :) I was going to do a post dedicated to that wondrous night, as well.... in fact, maybe I still will. Sadly I am lacking in photos. I guess accounts of painful falls and mucho fun will have to suffice! :)
And what are you talking about? Friday night we're going to be iceskating in polar bear costumes!
i wonder if we can get like season tickets...great skate...here we come!
Oh those rollerskating days.....they were the best. I loved it cause they always had the races too(if you went during a birthday party)...it was fun winning those things:) Then rollerskating went and rollerbladding came. Did lots of that on Purdue Campus. Not even sure that is in anymore?? Or maybe it is?? Looks like lots of fun.
can i say hilarious!!???
Okay.
